International Students

UC San Diego Academy 2017

F-1 or J-1 students transferring from a U.S. college or university must request a new Form I-20 or DS-2019 from UC San Diego prior to arrival. New documents can only be issued AFTER the record has been transferred in SEVIS to UC San Diego. Please follow-up with your International Student Advisor at your current school to make sure your SEVIS record is transferred to UC San Diego in a timely manner. To request a transfer I-20/DS-2019 from UC San Diego, please visit iPortal at https://sa-icweb.ucsd.edu/iportal/application/start and allow 15 business days from the SEVIS Release Date for processing.

NOTE: All transfer I-20s for students transferring from a U.S. school to UC San Diego for the Fall 2017 term are marked with a Program Start Date of 9/14/2016. If you have appropriately transferred your SEVIS record to UC San Diego within the 60-day period from your last school's program end date, then USCIS Regulations permit incidental study in the interim period before the 9/14/2016 program start date. In other words, you will NOT need a new I-20 to participate in the UC San Diego Academy. If you will be traveling and re-entering the U.S. prior to the start date of the Academy program, you may do so using a printout of your UC San Diego transfer I-20. You will need to inform the office that you will need your new I-20 (listing the 9/14/2016 start date) for travel, with the appropriate Travel Signature authorization from the International Center. Please contact itransfers@ucsd.edu to alert our office of your need, as well as if you have any further questions about the process. Please identify your name, PID and your affiliation with the UC San Diego Academy  to help facilitate our response.
